Gephardt leads "Innovate Iowa" forum in Des Moines
Former House Majority Leader joined by Gov. Culver and innovation leaders

Governor Chet CulverIowa's leading business, reasearch and academic minds joined Former House Majority Speaker Dick Gephardt and Iowa Governor Chet Culver for the Innovate Iowa forum on medical innovation at the University of Iowa's John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center in Des Moines on November 20. The forum was a "Best and Brightest in Medical Innovation" event hosted by the Council for American Medical Innovation and the Iowa Biotechnology Association. The forum conference and surrounding press activity centered on the need for continued growth and cultivation of biomedical innovation in Iowa.

The day kicked off with a TV appearance on Iowa’s top rated statewide political program “Iowa Press.”  Rep. Gephardt spoke with the leading political reporters from IPTV, Associated Press, and Radio Iowa. After the appearance Rep. Gephardt did an interview with IowaPolitics, the online source for political news across Iowa. Following the morning media, Rep. Gephardt hosted a VIP lunch of key policy leaders including Governor Chet Culver to talk about Innovate Iowa.  After the luncheon we held a pre-event press conference with Governor Culver and event panelists. The media turnout featured all local media outlets and also many statewide networks.

The event itself drew over 80 of the best and brightest minds in the state for a informative discussion about innovation and how Iowa can become a leader in lifesciences, biopharmaceuticals, and medical innovation. The response from the business community, universities and media has been outstanding.
